Pursuit of Happiness
A thought that has come across my mind a lot is how liberty has changed since America's inception. My thought process here comes from viewing the beginning of America as a nation set on giving each citizen God-given value and equality. "Life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness"... But freedom wasn't really given to everyone as we had a history of slavery, inequality among men and women, etc. These are a few of many instances of a broken type of freedom in America. I say this to shed light on how far America has come concerning its people's liberty; This nation has grown with the blending of multiple nationalities and cultures that continue to broaden the lifestyles that are socially acceptable in America. My point here is I don't think our founding fathers predicted how our nation would gradually change and accept issues like homosexuality, Drugs, transgenderism, climate change, and feminism in our world today. The way I believe being free in America is pointing us is letting each individual pursue every desire the human heart can want without consequence; many of our desires today can be filled with a click of a button and I think AI will allow Americans to live a life of a deeper leiser than we already have today. Even in my own life rather than using the amazing tech today to become a better person we rather use it for entertainment and leisure. This isn't every American but I believe based on the culture of what's being advertised in our media and how society perpetrates living the best version of you; Freedom in America must continue to change its definition and allow more things in our world that used to seem socially and morally unacceptable must be allowed. Because if it isn't, Are we really free? What about MY pursuit of happiness. This thought Is in its begging stages but comes from observations of the current world around me; I relate this thought to a book like Lord of the Flies situations where these children are left on an island without rules and chaos eventually happens. My stance here is neither against this liberty nor for it. I just think it is a natural result of the changing times and progression or possible regression of human history.
